Jackpot (Gamblers) Workshop: Distance skills
This workshop prepares teams for CPE Nationals (and all other distance games!) by focusing on the core skills needed for success in Jackpot—distance, discrimination, layering, and strategy. Participants will gain hands-on practice with CPE Nationals-level setups, gamble simulations, and fun games that reinforce confidence and precision.
When: November 18th, 2025, 6-8 pm
Where: Kinship Arena, 483 NW 8th St. North Bend, WA
Cost: $75 per dog, limit 6 dogs.
Instructor: Stephanie Dubick CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP, CCUI
Prerequisites: Dogs should be able to work in group setting with secure see-through fencing and be proficient on all obstacles, including contacts, with some independence. You don’t have to be qualified or attending CPE Nationals to attend, but preference may be given to those who are qualified. Most importantly, humans and dogs should be ready to have a good time!
Workshop Overview: This workshop is designed for all levels, gradually increasing complexity while keeping training fun and rewarding.
1. Discrimination Training: Teach obstacle choice (tunnel vs. contact, backside jumps).
2. Distance Sending and Commitment: Strengthen dog’s independence and handler’s cue timing.
3. Layering and Sequencing: Being able to cue obstacles in sequences without adding extra distance for the handler and being able to set lines if other obstacles are in the path.
