Does your dog ignore you off-leash? Or do you sometimes feel like they have “selective hearing”? This workshop is designed to ensure your dog responds reliably to your call, even in distracting environments. Transform your dog’s responsiveness through this dynamic 2-week crash course (1 class each week).

Prerequisites: Dogs must be able to take food in new environments and work within 10ft of other dogs and people without excessive barking. If you aren’t sure if this workshop is right for your dog, please email Anna for instructor permission.

We will focus on:

• Leash skills using a long-line

• Building a reliable recall for everyday use

• An emergency recall for critical moments, using a whistle

• Perimeter awareness to stay closer to you

• Boundary awareness to help stay on a path, trail, road, etc,.

Each session blends structured learning with fun activities to build a stronger bond between you and your dog. By course end, enjoy greater freedom and confidence in your dog's behavior.

What to bring:

• Your dog! Preferably a little hungry, and having been given a potty break prior to class.

• Flat buckle collar, martingale collar, head halter, front-attaching harness (ex. Freedom or Balance harnesses) or body harness. Please no prong collars or slip/choke collars.

• 6 foot nylon or leather leash. Please no flexi/retractable leashes.

• Treat pouch. A fanny pack, climber’s chalk bag, or hardware apron will work well too!

• Treats! At least two cups (I know, it’s a lot!) of pea-sized delicious treats. Your treats need to outcompete the environment, so hot dogs, ham and cheese will all work well. PLEASE USE LIGHT COLORED NON-CRUMBLY TREATS. Dropped treats are very distracting for dogs training after you.

• A mat for your dog to rest on for exercises.

• Optional: A chew or stuffed kong for your dog to chew during downtimes, and a long-line are useful for this class.
