CSAP-BC
Certified Separation Anxiety Professional - Behavior Consultant
CSAP-BC is an advanced credential earned through the Certified SA Pro™ Behavior Consultant Program developed and administered by Julie Naismith. The program is dedicated exclusively to separation anxiety, which is treated as a fear-based panic response to being alone rather than an obedience issue. Training focuses on gradually changing the dog’s emotional response through structured, systematic exposure.
The Behavior Consultant designation reflects advanced, skills-based competency in:
Executing effective behavior change programs in a fully virtual format
Helping guardians identify practical solutions for their unique schedules and home routines
Conducting structured separation anxiety assessments
Identifying stress signals and determining workable thresholds
Designing and progressing individualized departure plans
Managing setbacks and regression thoughtfully
Using data to guide training adjustments
Collaborating with veterinarians when medication is part of the dog’s care plan
The program includes extensive coursework, live mentoring, case shadowing, and a practical assessment with a real client. Graduates are evaluated on both theoretical knowledge and applied skills. Earning the CSAP-BC credential reflects specialized expertise and a commitment to evidence-based practice, ethical intervention, and structured, step-by-step support for dogs experiencing separation-related distress.
